Apple Unveils the New iPad Pro With Slim Bezels, Face ID

Another big change is the switch to USB-C instead of Lightning. That will allow iPad Pro users to connect to a number of accessories including external displays and more. You’ll even be able to charge other devices like an iPhone.

An A12X Bionic chip features an 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU and a neural engine.

Without the home button, users will interact with the iPad with gestures similar to the iPhone X line. Face ID will work in both portrait and landscape mode.

The 11-inch version is the same size as the previous-generation 10.5-inch model. The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro is significantly smaller than the older version. The enclosure is more square instead of rounded.

A new optional Apple Pencil attaches magnetically to the iPad Pro. It pairs and charges wirelessly. You can tap twice to change modes. Third-party apps will also be available to tap into the touch control feature. It costs $129.

Another optional accessory, the Smart Keyboard, now offers two different viewing angles. It attaches to the new Smart Connector on the back of the iPad Pro. It costs $179.

The new iPad Pro models will be available to order today and hit the market Wednesday, Nov. 7. The 11-inch version starts at $799 while the 12.9-inch version at $999. There will also be LTE versions available. You can select from a space gray or silver version.

You can place orders for the new iPad starting today and it will hit the market on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
